Evaluation Question 3

Question 3. What have you learned from your audience feedback?

This is a drawing from my lecturer and this shows many different layout used by other newspapers that are similar to my product and the reason why she has done this is because I was having trouble with the layout for my website and so if I knew what other newspapers looked like I could make a knowledgeable decision about how I should change my layout for it to look like a professional newspapers.

This is a feedback form from my lecturer for the second page of my main task, she lists all of the strengths of this page for example: appropriateness for task and audience and the overall design is very conventional however the area of improvement would be the lower section, add the twitter/email address.

This second assessment is for my poster as you can see from the check-list criteria she thinks that my work is in the low Level 4 criteria, around 8 points.

I have also received verbal feedback: widen the spaces for the articles on the front cover, make columns all the same width, change the advert arrangement so that the layout works better and move the sub-title to beneath the main title. All of these comments have been taken on board and have been changed so that the newspaper is best it can be. As well as the lecturers feedback I have also tried to evaluate and analyse my own work to make my work look better and so after these changes had been implemented I decided that my product still wasn't up to scratch and so decided to re-do my product, keep the content however move it around so that the layout fitted better.

Evaluation Question 2

Question 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Evaluation Question 2
My main product and my ancillary task of my poster and website work together effectively and the reason for this is because I have tried to stick to as many conventions for a newspaper as possible.

One thing that I have thought a lot on was the colouring for my product and have even changed the colouring of my product to make the whole of my product more effective. The running colour palette for my product is blue, white and black and I think because of this colour scheme I have been able to make a collection of products that work together to form one successful product.

Already in the media industry newspapers are not just a stand alone product any more as they also have a products which promote the newspaper and also allow a wider range of people to read the newspaper for example they have the newspaper which the locals can get, they have the poster to advertise the local newspaper product and then they have the website to help make the product more viral and more known to people who don’t just live in the area.

My main task, the front cover and the second page of a newspaper needed to work together well as they would be seen one after another and so I have used the same font, colour palette and simple layout for each. The products also work together effectively in the sense that all of my products, except the poster as that doesn’t have any articles on it, have the same articles and the same headings to the articles which makes my product consistent throughout.

For my poster I have used fun bright colours and have used this throughout my products an example of this would be for the front cover of my newspaper I have put ‘YOUR POSITIVE PAPER’, underneath the masthead and I have chosen the same colours as the poster and I have also used this technique of the multiple colours on my website.
Another element which makes my products work together successfully is the fact that the theme of my newspaper products is that it is a happy newspaper and even the slogan illustrates that ‘your positive paper’ and because of this all my products are combined together as all of the content is about happy news.
Further more all my products have been promoted effectively as all my products promote one another in some way for example the poster has the website details on the bottom of it, the front of the newspaper has a big advertisement for the website, the second page also has a link for the website at the top of the page and the website itself is promoting the newspaper.

Comparison between a real magazine and my own
(Left real - Right mine)

After looking through my products I can say that I have created a professional product that would not stand out if put along side professional products as being a media students work as I feel I have followed conventions correctly and in doing so have linked my products together to create a successful product.

Evaluation Question 4

4. How did you use new media technology in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages?
I used new media technology in the construction stages of my website product as I used a website to help me to build my product as I used the site called www.wix.com, this has allowed me to focus on the layout and context of my product without having to worry about the technical side of actually building a website from scratch. I used this website to develop my product as all I originally started off with just a flatplan andso used the site to load images text, shaped and buttons. For example when adding text you have option of where to put the text, what size the font is, the colour and style. Also, once you have created the text you then have the option to duplicate the text, delete it, edit the text, change the settings of the text, add an animation, show it on all pages, copy, paste, show in front and show behind. WIX is a professional style website creator and as the site was free it was easy enough to access without having money details and upgrades to deal with. The impact to using this was that I was able to publish my website so that others could access it just like any other real professional company would do to their website.

In addition to this I have used technology in the research of the product as I looked a the e-editions of newspapers as well as print copies to have a look at a wider range of product for example the Metro newspaper is one of the many newspapers I looked at the gain ideas.

To plan my product I used Photoshop to plan the layout of my work as without crucial planning you could be lost as you could be going out and taking images that may or may not fit into the required spacing of the newspaper for example a portrait orientation image might need to fit into a landscape orientation image and this may mean that the image would have to be smaller than planned and then that would also mean there will be empty space, which could lead to me then having to stretch the image which would ruin the quality of the photographs.
During the production of making this product I have used tools such as the mouse tool as when creating the product I needed to re-arrange certain images that I have taken. I have used the Magic Wand, Quick selection, Magnetic and Lasso tool and the impact of using these tools is that I was able to have professional looking images for example when taking the images I had taken them in a photography studio, unfortunately the floors have a few scuffs on them and so used the tools to make the floor look clean andthe impact on my product would be that they look a lot cleaner and more professional.

As you can see I have used a range of products when constructing, researching, planning and evaluating my product and as well as this I have also had experience with using a video software called Premiere Pro to help me get to grips with using the software if I was to use that brief later on. I have also used this software when creating my evaluation. When using the product I used only a small selection of tools as I used the Mouse tool to drag images over from the library to the viewing pane and the from there I dragged them to the video. When looking at the videos I noticed that they needed some editing doing to them as there was a little gap between the beginning and ending of the videos added, this was obvious when viewing and so to make it look seemless I cropped it down and so used the first 2 tools on the first image. the impact from this was that the video seemed to play seemlessly.

Evaluation

Evaluation Questions

1.              In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge form and conventions of media products?
For my media product I have tried to keep to as many conventions as possible and the reason for this is because this is a new local newspaper and I want people to buy the newspaper and recognise it is a newspaper and continue to buy it as I don’t want people to buy the newspaper for example thinking it was a comic and then be disappointed when the start to read the content.
An example of how I have used the convention of a media product would be for the colour palette as I originally had a yellow colour scheme but after having a look at the affect of my product and having a look at other media products similar to mine I realised that the colour wasn’t very conventional as and it also would not appeal to my target audience as although 30+ people still want to have fun they don’t want to have a bright yellow smack bang in the middle of a newspaper and when I looked at my product I could see that it would be off-putting and unprofessional and so decided to change it to be more conventional and opted for a dark blue and the reason for this is because newspapers similar to mine uses this style for example The Mail Online and The Daily Mail. They blue for their masthead and for key areas of their product and I felt that this strong blue colour would although still be bold I felt that it would be more subtle on the eyes and so decided to go for a more conventional colour.
I looked at the Sunderland Echo for inspiration because the Sunderland Echo is my local paper, but when looking at the newspaper and how they use their conventions I noticed that they use the colour red for the main colour for their colour palette and red represents the devil, evil and passion which is the total binary opposite to what I want my product to represent I want my product to represent happiness and I have researched that blue signifies health and happiness.
I have also used conventional layout for all my products and in particular the style for my poster as I looked at the Guardian’s poster and found their playful and colourful styling inspiring and so decided to reconstruct their poster and use their graphical approach and instead wrote ‘your positive paper’, placed ‘Everyday only 50p on the inside of positive and paper and then placed the masthead, along with another slogan of ‘Your Positive Paper and then finally at the bottom the information strip with the Publishing company’s name, website/newspaper/twitter for the newspaper. This style layout I know for certain is conventional as The Guardian use a similar style for their poster. The front cover for the newspaper has also been reconstructed using the Sunderland Echo for the conventional layout as I used the masthead in the same place, the red strip for the advertisements, the bordering for the second main story, the big font for the main article, the articles down the right hand side of the page and finally a small advertisement in the bottom right hand corner. As you know the Sunderland Echo paper was used to reconstruct the page and so again know for certain that I am using the conventional layout.
Another feature that I have used that is conventional to a media product is the fact that on the front page there are little labels that indicate that the remainder of the article is on the inside pages for example on the front page I have used ‘Turn to page 5’ located at the bottom of the article so that people reading the article would know that there is more of the article inside.
One main convention that I have followed is the fact that I have created 3 products: the newspaper (front page and inside page), the poster and the website (two hyperlinked pages), these products have been created so they are linked but also because it is the conventional thing to do as you want people to have a better access
2.              How effective is the combination of your main product and the ancillary texts?

My main product and my ancillary task of my poster and website work together effectively and the reason for this is because I have tried to stick to as many conventions for a newspaper as possible.
One thing that I have thought a lot on colouring for my product and have even changed the colouring of my product to make the whole of my product more effective. The running colour palette for my product is blue, white and black and I think because of this colour scheme I have been able to make a collection of products that work together to form one successful product.

After looking through my products I can say that I have created a professional product that would not stand out if put along side professional products as being a media students work as I feel I have followed conventions correctly and in doing so have linked my products together to create a successful product.

3.              What have you learned from your audience feedback?

I have had some peer assessment of my work which has made the development of my product a lot easier as peers can give advice on how to make my products look better. I have also had feedback from my lecturer’s which has been most valuable as both my Lecturer’s Chris and Kaye are in the same age group I want my target audience to be and so not only will they be able to tell me what people in their age category would like to see in my product, they can also give a critical analysis of what needs changing in my work as they have Media Studies knowledge.
An example of this would be a sheet of paper which gives an analysis of strengths and weaknesses with my products during the process of making my product.
Peer Improvements
To change this you could have a different colour for the background of the adverts to make it stand out more and could use your blue colour palette more to your advantage for example the headlines. I agree with this feedback as parts of my product in particular my advertisements, they seem to blend in with the rest of my articles because there are no borders are backgrounds to differentiate however to counteract this argument I did at the time have heading for each article and so when it came down to the advertisement I labelled it Local Advertisement however I have learnt from this feedback that I need to add a background colour to put behind or around the advertisement to show that it is not a article.
On the What’s On page there is too much blank space between the articles and from this feedback I now know that I need to change the layout of my articles as it obviously looks like I haven’t though a lot about the layout of my products but I have and so I need to re-arrange the products so that there is no or as little as possible white space without it looking cluttered.
Peer Strengths
I like the colours you have used, as they are striking and very eye catching, you have taken good images, which link to the text and are of a good quality, I like the little tag-line with the images as it helps the readers know where the images were taken and what the article is about, I also like the LN publishing at the website and the articles are long enough to be informative, yet short enough so as to bore people. From this feedback I can see areas that I don’t need to worry about.
Lecturer Improvements
Unsure of suitably for target audience, as at this stage I was planning having a young target audience for the paper from around 17-30 and I can see why my lecturer has given me this feedback as stereotypically older people read the paper and so picking an age range which doesn’t stereotypically read a newspaper is already a risky move for my new product as there would only be a small amount of people who would actually want to read and buy my products not enough to make a profit for my business and so from this feedback I have learned that I need to re-evaluate the age for my product and have since changed my target audience so that it is now 30+, as people in their 30’s want to know more about their local area and I have left the age bracket open for people older that 30 as people in their retirement like to read newspapers and so closing that bracket retirement age would seem odd. So from this one feedback I have learnt that I need to change my target audience to suit my product.
From these strengths and weaknesses I can see the areas of improvements to change my product for the better as from the list you can see these are only minor changes to help develop my product.

When evaluating my work I would send copies of my work to other class mates as well as my lecture for feedback and I have also created an account on survey monkey which allowed me to gain responses to questions about my product and also as my blog can be seen any where this means that I can have anonymous comments to give feedback on my work.
As you can see I have used a range of products when constructing, researching, planning and evaluating my product and as well as this I have also had experience with using a video software called Premiere Pro to help me get to grips with using the software if I was to use that brief later on.

How has Genre in films changed over the years? - ROMANCE

David Buckingham is one of the many theorist I have to research for my exam he believes that: 'Genre is a constant process of negotiation and change over time'.

I have found a few different examples of films for example Grease, it is a 1978 film that follows the conventional genre because a man and woman meet, the couple then get seperated through no fault of their own and then they get reunited and then  they drive off, living happily ever after.

Another example would be the film Pretty Woman, they meet under unusual circumstances as she is a prostitute, they then end up falling in love and end up living happily ever after.

Forrest Gump is about a man with a low I.Q he goes through life not rerally understanding that his actions has helped lives, all he cares about his sweetheart Jenny. They are childhood friends, they are seperated and so Forrest leaves to go to Vietnam, they return to Alabama, get married after first declining the first time he asked years previous and spend a short time together as Jenny is ill and later dies. This is unconventional as romance usually ends by the couple ending happily ever after however you get the impression that Forrest and his child are going to have a happy life after all of the good he has done in his past. In this story there is an equilibrium that can be applied as the equilibrium is how things were in the beginning, the disequilibrium is when the couple part and the new equilibrium is when they are reunited when Jenny and their child come back to Forrest and they move back to Alabama. Or it could be argued there is two equilibriums in this film as there is the life when Jenny is sick, she dies and then the new equilibrium is Forrest and his childs life after her death.

Romeo and Juliet is a about how a couple meet unfortunately their families don't see eye to eye and so have to hide their love from their family, there are many fights between the two families, they make a plan so that the two can be together. Romeo goes away, Juliet pretends to die by takes a druf that stops the heart, making people think she is dead, she then awakes unfortunately not before Romeo finds her lifeless body and takes his life by drinking the poison he had aquired after hearing of his partners death, he cannot be alive knowing he cannot be with his true love and so takes his life just after this Juliet wakes and finds his body and as she feels the same as him she takes her life by stabbing herself. The film was made in 1996 however it is believed to be wrote in 1580 however the theme of this film best fits the development of the date the film was made because romance films in these years have a story that go accordingly: they meet, they are apart for reasons that seemed important at the time, they then end up get back together and unfortunately one of the main characters dies and leaves the remaining character left alone. The way in which Romeo and Juliet has developed from the previous film (Forrest Gump) is that neither the main characters survive and so there can be no additional to the story.

Only a year later the genre has developed further as Titanic is about a couple that meet each other under unforseen circumstances, they were of different class and so shouldn't have met each other on this cruise as class' are kept seperately, people try to seperate them especially her friend as he wanted her for himself, they spend time in each others company - falling in love, the boat gets hit by an iceburg, they end up in the sea, she is on a piece of debris whilst he is in the water holding her hand, he end up dying and ends up at the bottom of the ocean. The story doesn't end there as you then see Rose, in current time, as an old lady telling you the story of her life because in the beginning of the film you see her telling people about the story and its not until the end you realise that the story is about her life not someone else she knows or a made up thing. This film has a lot of equilibriums as you could say Rose had an equilibrium before she met Jack, Disequilibrium when she was parted from her current partner and a new equilibrium when Jack and Rose become a couple or you could look at the bigger picture and say that the equilibrium is when Jack and Rose meet, the disequilibrium is when her partner tries to break them up and you could argue that it is also the iceburg as that is what takes you onto the new equilibrium, Rose without Jack. The genre has developed as although both characters die they die at different stages in their life as Jack dies with her, after the iceburg, whereas Rose dies because of old age and you can see she then re-joins him in the after life where as Romeo and Juliet die together in each others arms one after each other.

The Notebook is more recent film is about a love story however the film has been presented as if it were a book, as the actor reads an old woman in a nursing home a book about a couples love, it is then remembered that the people in the book are actually the man next to her and herself. The film tells us how young people meet, the parents don't approve, she then has to move to go to college, she gets engagement, whilst getting her wedding dress fitted she sees an image of Noah and so goes to find him in a house which they have fond memories, there is some confusion as to whether she should continue her fiance or go with her one true love Noah. The scene then brakes and it goes back to the couple which brings the audience realisation that the story was about the person reading the book and the woman in the nursing home.Noah is found unconscious in bed and he is rushed to the hospital; he later returns to the nursing home's intensive care ward. He goes to Allie's room later that night, and Allie remembers again. The next morning, a nurse finds them in bed together, having both died peacefully holding each other's hands.

Things have changed in terms of genre in a film as things need to be changed so that it keeps the audience guessing about what is happening as you don't want to watch something and know exactly what is going to happen in the end - live happily ever after, but if they do live happily ever after there may be some long and interesting tale as to how they got their happy ever after.

Colour palette

In this blog I am going to look at all the different newspapers in my area that I feel that relate in some way to how I want my product to look. I have decided to put these images together to show the variety of colour palettes that are used in a real life, conventional newspaper and here are the results:

The Sun uses a simple black, red, blue and white combination and I quite like the use of the colours because the red is quite striking in colour and so they have only used it in moderation for the masthead and for the sub-heading.   The Journal only use three colours which is simple and easy to use however I feel the way in which they have used these colours are quite bland and the newspaper looks to plain in colour.  The Sunderland Echo are using the most out of there colours as they are using the bold coloured red for both the masthead and for the borders of the images. They have used the red and white as a symbol of support for their local football team: Sunderland.                     The Shields Gazette uses a more relaxing coloured blue which I feel sumbolises the local area friendly and relaxed people as well as the fact that the colour blue symbolises the sea which is where Shields is located beside the sea.

The Mirror uses the same colours as the Sunderland Echo however I feel because of their layout I feel that the Sunderland Echo is better as the newspaper looks untidy and unthoughtout. The red colour they have used is striking however they don't use this colour again.      The Guardian have used a variety of colours, more than what other newspapers have used however I feel that because they have used three different tones of blue I think that is why the newspaper colour scheme works. The Evening Standard use there colours to help highlight the masthewad as they have a border of yellow either side of the masthead wihch helps draw the colour toward the masthead. Although the colours used are very bright they have only used a small amount of colour on the page, only enough to make the newspaper look bright and interesting.
The Evening Standard have again used the same colour strip to highlight the masthead. Like all the newspapers I have researched all of them have used white in some way shape or form and all of them have used white for the background.             Evening Chronicle  has used a lot of colours as they have used a mix of 5 clouds for their newspaper and on this occasion I don't think that this newspaper looks very professional and so won't use this newspaper for inspiration however there are elements which do look attractive for example the layout.                           Daily Mail has used simple colours, I have added the pink and the yellow and although these colours are for the advertisement I have added them in because they are so eye catching.
I have used white, blue and black for the colour palette of my newspaper products as the majority of the newspaper's I have researched they have used this colour scheme and looking at what they have done I can identify that this is the best selection of colours. By looking at other newspaper not using this colour scheme, it has not been a waste of time as I can use their style or layout or genre.

Feedback

This is a drawing from my lecturer and this shows many different layout used by other newspapers that are similar to my product and the reason why she has done this is because I was having trouble with the layout for my website and so if I knew what other newspapers looked like I could make a knowledgable decision about how I should change my layout for it to look like a professional newpapers.

This is a feedback form from my lecturer for the second page of my main task, she lists all of the strengths of this page for example: appropriateness for task and audience and the overall design is very conventional however the lower an area of improvement would be the lower section, add the twitter/email adress.

This second assessment is for my poster as you can see from the checklist criteria she thinks that my work is in the low Level 4 criteria, around 8 points.

I have also recieved verbal feedback: widen the spaces for the articles on the front cover, make columns all the same width, change the advert arrangement so that the layout works better and move the sub-title to beneath the main title. All of these comments have been taken on board and have been chnaged so that the newspaper is best it can be. As well as the lecturers feedback I have also tried to evaluate and analyse my own work to make my work look better and so after these changes had been implemented I decided that my product still wasn't up to stratch and so decided to re-do my product, keep the content however move it around so that the layout fitted better.

This experience has shown just how much this foundation matters and by raising money they can help even more people.” Charity events project manager Bayram said: “People like Rachel are what makes this foundation help other as with their support and fundraising it allows this foundation to carry on saving lives and fund research for people in the future.” Donations for Rachel’s jump, on November 2nd 2013, can be made at www.justgiving.com/Rachel-Furness Bridges business award The winner of the Business Awards will be revealed tonight and the wait will be over for the entrants and this event would not have been possible without the sponsors from the Bridges and other organisations. Centre Boss, Andy Bradley said: “As a shopping centre we understand the commitment and success needed to run a business in the North east and with the economy being so hard on businesses it is good to see so many shortlisted for this award as this a achievement all business selected should be proud of. We are running a successful organisation at the moment and we aim to develop and expand to become bigger and better and this process has already begun in the last year with new shopping outlets: Primark, Krispy Kreme, Foot Locker, the Entertainer and a new Business Improvement District as well as building on the relations of current key organisations. Top Post Local newspaper about to be set loose on your shelves and online #newspaper We love Ladies and gentleman it is time to wrap up warm for the winter… New Look have got some fashionable jumpers in, including this season’s must have grey back bow jumper, £23. Pub food made deliciously Just after being taken over by new management the pub is now back to the original name of the Prospect. Have you heard of it? The term ‘pub food’ is not always known for having high standard however the Chef at the Prospect sure knows his way around the kitchen. The menu includes home-made dishes aiming to please the comfort eaters of the English menu. Dishes can be ordered for sharing which is a great hit with big social gathering and the families as we dive into the Sunday roast as you have never witnessed before as you can have as much or as little as you want as we ordered the unlimited vegetable supply. The diner was steaming hot with a mixture of perfectly seasoned flavours along with a side plate of a massive Yorkshire pudding; this is definitely recommended to share between others. The star of the meal had to be the morish gravy as the flavours of the meat had been infused with the gray which made the gravy flavourful. Despite there only being a small amount of meat on the plate, this has become the best pub food ever. With 2 traditional Sunday Roasts and a mountain of vegetables the meal came to about £24. New Building, ever changing art A new exhibition which combines AS and A2 work together of different opinions and style of Art from the Shiney Row College. Shiney Row College is about to be pulled down and re-born in another location in years to come and yet the inside of the College is still filled with a range of contempary art whether that be fashion, graphics, drama, photography or music, the halls are filled with artwork and sound. Although not currently open to the public there will be an exhibition at the end of the year which will mark the end of the beginning as this will be the last year that the artwork will be shown on these walls. As different art students have different styles and techniques and as they have different assignment themes the representation of art is vast and unique as these pieces could become part of a professional artist’s portfolio. Work will be exhibited at the end of the academic year of 2013, Hebburn Graduate back in class With the success of the Award winning BBC Comedy series Hebburn, University of Sunderland Graduate went back to the classroom to show students what it was like breaking into comedy, TV and live performances. Jason Cook, studied media Production at University Of Sunderland and came back to offer guidance into the industry. Whilst studying at this University Jason Cook first made his move towards comedy and as his performances gained popularity and achieved regular booking part of sketch group Soups, as well taking part in the charity gala in 2004 Sunday for Sammy and with this success it left him with the riskiest move yet, to leave University and as from his master class from students his advice was “don’t follow my example”. BBC Comedy series Hebburn won critical claim and Royal Television Society Award for Best Drama and with this success and knowledge Jason was able to give this advice: “The three words to remember are decide, learn and adapt. I decided I wanted to do comedy, I learnt from my time at university, and I adapt from playing grotty clubs to now do what I do for a living. I would also say it is good to set yourself unachievable goals; if you want to be a stand-up, work in the movies, or write a television show then do it. Someone has to!” The comedy series has started repeating on the BBC Thursday’s ahead of the new series of the show. Student Lock In Sunderland students have taken part in The Bridges Shopping Centre Lock In on October 1st 2013. Probably one of the biggest student queue came from the Bridges on the 1st October, as students took advantage of the 20% off sale in all stores in the Bridges. Figures estimate that over 3,000 students had taken part to come to the event and if retail therapy isn’t your thing there was still a host of activity that would keep you entertained as there was entertainment from a live DJ and stilt-walkers which would keep both the ears and the eyes entertained. The event proved a hit with the students and the businesses as David McGurk, a 19 year old student explained: “ It’s a good way to get young people buying by letting them know about discounts that are available”

Preferred fonts, colour palettes styles

MASTHEAD
 · Sunnyside – Times New Roman
· Sunnyside – Impact
· Sunnyside – Compacta Blk BT

Article font
· Times new roman
· Arial · Comic Sans MS
· Franklin Gothic Book
· Palatino Linotype
· Microsoft Sans Serif Font
After looking at all the different types of font that I could use I decided to use Times new roman as I felt that it looked both professional and easy to read and by using the same font as the masthead it gave a secondary element of continuity and although this is not necessarily a conventional element to include I feel that this font style best suits the audience I have as this easy to read and yet quirky styling of text will appeal to both the younger and older range of my target audience.

Colour Palette
  1. Grey, yellow and black
  2. blue, white and black
  3. red, white and black
  4. muli-coloured - to match the poster style
After changing my mind half way through designing my product from the 1st option listed as grey, yellow and black, I have now decided that the colour palette I wish to use are as follows: blue, grey and white as the colour represent health, happiness and tranquility.

Style/genre
My newspaper is style is something I that I wish to target a wide range of audiences is however understand that my main target audience is going to range from about 30+ as there are not a lot of young people that read newspapers and so trying to appeal to that younger age would not only be pointless it would also loose me money and other audiences as older people don't necessarily want to know or read about exactly the same thing and so trying to appeal to the younger audience will in turn loose my older audiences - meaning I will have no audience to buy my products. My style for my newspaper product is going to be simple, happy and most importantly easy and informative to read as you don't want to read a newspaper that firstly doesn't give you all the facts and secondly gives you all the facts in a monitone like fasion and so I plan to look at other newspapers that are similar to my product for example the Sunderland Echo as a guide as to how my articles should be style along with what style of articles I should write about.

Potential Problems/Plan B

Potential area where there might be a problem
How I will deal with this problem
Images
·      The images that I plan on taking may not be possible because of the weather as most of the images I am planning on taking I will be taking outside and if that is the case I will have to take the images when it is raining and brighten them on Photoshop or I could wait until it stops raining as it doesn’t rain all the time or I could change the image I plan on taking.
·      I also plan on taking images inside someone’s house and so might not be allowed inside and so if I this is the case I can always that the images of my house as my plan b option.
·      I plan on asking two people to be my model and if they don’t want to do it I can always ask someone else and if the worst comes to the worst I could take the images of myself or ask someone in the class. But if the model says they can do it and then decides to change their minds or not turn up to the College I can re-arrange for another date or could ask someone else more reliable.
·      The images I take might be blurry and if that is the case I would just retake the image and if it is too late to re-take the images I could have a look to see if there are any other images that I have previously taken that are appropriate or I could re-size the image to make them smaller if the worst comes to the worst.
·      The images might not fit the space I have left for them around the text and if that is the case I will re-size it to fit or I can move the content around to change the layout slightly to fit the image in.
·      The lighting of the image may not be very good and to solve this I could use Photoshop Tools to lighten this or re-take the image.
Article text
·      The article might not come across as being friendly, informative or happy and if that is the case I would just make another draft.
·      I might have too much or too little text to fit onto my media products and if that is the case I would have to re-arrange the layout or take out some words or add some words in the article so that the article fits.
Colours
·      The colours might not be appropriate for the audience and if that is the case then all I would need to do is change them and to see what colours I need to change it to have a look at other newspapers similar to my product.
·      The colours might not look good together and if that is the case change them.
·      The colours might not represent the newspaper accurately for example a serious, dark paper and then the colour palette is a bright yellow, which represents happiness.
Adverts
·      The adverts might not be appropriate for the genre of the newspaper and if that is the case I would have to change them to fit the genre and if I don’t have time to re-design an advert I could add another article into the space as I would have spare articles to use in case of these circumstances.
·      The adverts might be too bold and distract from the main text and so if this is the case I would tone down the colours used and I would also change size of the advert to make it less noticeable.
